Village Union Public School - Oshawa, Ontario

Village Union Public School

Adopted by: Indigo Oshawa Centre

Village Union Public School is a priority school in a transient community. Access to books for our students are mainly provided by our school library. Our students have a love for books, so much so, many students do not return their library books to the school and much of our budget is buying and replacing new books to love. School fundraisers do not provide enough to boost our library budget. Our students deserve a library full of new books that engage them in the love of reading. One of our school goals is to make each student feel like they belong in our library and that they are also reflected in the books we have. We are looking at building our library collection with books that reflect an equitable, anti-oppressive and anti-racist lens that is free from discrimination. We have a long way to go to achieve this goal and the Adopt-A-School Program would help us very much.
