The King's Road Public School is located in West Burlington and was established in 1956. Our school community supports just over 300 students from Kindergarten to Grade 6. Many of our students have parents who also attended King's Road Public School and/or who grew up within Halton Region, and others are newcomers to Canada and/or speak English as a Second Language. As a result our population is quite diverse and our library collection does not yet reflect that diversity. This grant will help us to increase the availability of books that are responsive to our school culture (e.g. cultural beliefs and background, physical abilities, race, gender, etc). We want to support our students to see themselves as change makers through the resources that are available at our library, so would also like to provide a wider range of books that represent situations involving problem solving and overcoming obstacles.
